Recent Kentucky commit shares why he chose to play for John Calipari
The Kentucky Wildcats beat two rivals on Saturday as they were able to beat Tennessee on the basketball court and Louisville on the recruiting trail.
Kentucky's 2024 recruiting class was nearly wrapped up, but Coach Calipari was able to swoop in and steal a five-star right from former Kentucky assistant Kenny Payne.
On Saturday night, Karter Knox chose to play for Kentucky rather than Louisville or Overtime Elite. It didn't seem like Knox was going to choose Kentucky in the days leading up to his decision, but when it came to selecting a hat to put on, Knox went with the blue and white. Knox is the brother of former Wildcat Kevin Knox, which likely helped Coach Calipari in this recruitment. The 6'5 wing is ranked as the 19th player in the 2024 class according to 247Sports composite rankings.
After choosing Kentucky, Knox had this to say about why he decided to play his college hoops in Lexington, "You know Coach Calipari, he's sent a lot of people to the league, and I want to be a pro. He told me he's going to make me a pro, so I'm ready to hoop and win a National Championship."
Kentucky has six members in its loaded 2024 recruiting class that should have the Wildcats ranked high heading into the 2024-25 season. Duke's class is ranked higher, than Kentucky, as they have a ton of talent, but don't sleep on this Kentucky recruiting class.
Players like Billy Richmond and Knox aren't ranked high enough, but they will be able to prove that here soon in Lexington.
Coach Calipari proved once again if he wants a guy he is going to land him. John Calipari is the best recruiter in college hoops.
