SEC Saturday wraparound: South Carolina joins Auburn in the loss column to help Kentucky in the standings

Kentucky's big win over Auburn was the story in the SEC, but multiple other results will have big ramifications in the conference as March draws near.
In this story:

John Calipari and the Kentucky Wildcats picked up a massive victory on Saturday, taking down the Auburn Tigers on the road, 70-59, and erasing a few weeks of pain in one fantastic afternoon.

The win brought Kentucky within a half game of Auburn in the SEC standings, and a loss from South Carolina helped the Wildcats inch closer as well - although easy wins from both Alabama and Tennessee kept them in a class at the top with a few weeks still to go before the conference tournament and March Madness begins.

Below is a look at how every SEC team did on Saturday and how they are looking in both the conference standings and as a potential NCAA Tournament team with Selection Sunday less than one month away.

Alabama 100, Texas A&M 75

Five Alabama players scored in double figures, led by 23 from Mark Sears as the Crimson Tide's electric offense did more than enough to keep them in first place in the SEC. The loss for A&M pushes them to an even 6-6 in conference play and hurts their already falling bubble chances.

Florida 88, Georgia 82

Walter Clayton had 21 as Florida used a 48 point second half to down the Bulldogs and move to 8-4 in SEC play - and seriously help their chances of earning an at-large bid in the Big Dance.

Mississippi State 71, Arkansas 67

Despite a disastrous 19-32 effort from the free throw line, the Bulldogs of Mississippi State were able to hold off a seriously struggling Arkansas team on Saturday evening, thanks primarily to a 42-27 advantage on the glass.

Josh Hubbard led Mississippi State with 19 points, and the Bulldogs moved to 6-6 in conference play and kept their bubble hopes alive.

LSU 64, South Carolina 63

LSU used a big second half to pull off a major upset over No. 11 ranked South Carolina, handing the Gamecocks their fourth loss in conference play and pushing them into third place behind Alabama and Tennessee.

Tennessee 88, Vanderbilt 53

Tennessee exploded in the first half, jumping out to a 51-20 lead and coasting to an easy victory over Jerry Stackhouse and the Commodores. They remain just behind Alabama in the standings at 9-3, and sit with an overall record of 19-6.

Ole Miss 79, Missouri 76

The Rebels let the winless Tigers hang around far too long but survived with a three point victory, thanks to a 26 point effort from Matthew Murrell. Ole Miss joins both A&M and Mississippi State with a 6-6 record in conference play.
