Takeaways: Kentucky's offense exploded to blow out Marshall 118-82

What can we take away from Kentucky's 118-82 win over Marshall?

Kentucky was able to take down the Marshall Thundering Herd 118-82 after an offensive explosion.

The Cats were efficient from the field, and this led to the team getting over 100 points for the second time this season.

This game will have the team feeling confident as the #10 Miami Hurricanes walk into Rupp Arena on Tuesday.

The freshmen were incredible especially DJ Wagner

The freshmen all played well in this basketball game, as DJ Wagner, Rob Dillingham, Justin Edwards, and Reed Sheppard combined for a whooping 66 points in this game. Wagner had his best game of the season, scoring 28 points, giving him back-to-back 20+ point games. Three of these four freshmen are guards, and they combined to only turn the basketball over four times, which is remarkable. If these guys continue to play like this, Kentucky is a top-five team in all of college hoops. These freshmen aren't playing like freshmen, and we are only six games into the season.

The Cats won't stop making three's

Kentucky had another game where they drained 10+ threes, as the Cats had 16 in this ball game. They were 16-27 from deep for 59.3%. If the Cats continue to shoot over 50% from deep, no one in the county will beat them. Hopefully, the streak of consecutive games with 10+ three-pointers continues against Miami. If it does, the Cats will get a top-ten victory in front of Big Blue Nation.

Tre Mitchell looked great down low

Tre Mitchell had a good game for the Cats, scoring 18 points on 8-15 shooting from the field. Mitchell also had four rebounds and four assists in this ball game. The best part of this game was watching Mitchell make moves in the post. The Thundering Herd had a big seven-footer down low, and Mitchell made him look silly all night long. Seeing Mitchell play well against size is great to see, although it seems like the Cats will be getting a seven-footer back soon. Mitchell looked like a true center in this ball game for the Cats.

What's next?

The Cats will take on the #10 Miami Hurricanes on Tuesday, November 28th, at 7:30 pm in a game that will be massive for both clubs.
