Two stock risers from Kentucky's overtime win over the Saint Joseph's Hawks

These two Kentucky Wildcats played well against Saint Joseph's.

The Kentucky Wildcats were able to take down the Saint Joseph's Hawks in overtime to get to 4-1 on the season.

This game was tight, but the Cats were able to pull away in the extra five minutes despite 15 made threes by the Hawks.

Kentucky has to guard the three-ball better and crash the boards, but these things will improve with time and the return of some large humans.

Let's take a look at two Kentucky Wildcats who raised their stock in Kentucky's win over Saint Joseph's.

DJ Wagner

DJ Wagner didn't have the start to the season many imagined, but his performance against Saint Joseph's was a massive step in the right direction. Wagner scored 22 points in this game while going 7-17 from the field. It wasn't the most efficient shooting day but seeing 22 points on the board has to make the freshman guard feel good. He also added six assists and three rebounds with his 22 points. Wagner scored seven points in overtime and was a big reason why the Cats got the win. All of Big Blue Nation knew Wagner would turn it around at some point; they just wanted it to be sooner rather than later. Hopefully, Wagner has another good game against Marshall, then explodes onto the scene against the Miami Hurricanes.

Tre Mitchell

Tre Mitchell is another player who had a good showing for the Cats against the Saint Joseph's Hawks, as he scored 22 points. Mitchell also had six rebounds and four assists in this ball game. The big man had nine points in overtime, including some clutch triples that eventually led to the Cat's big win. It's been great to see Mitchell hold down the fort down low while we await the return of the seven-footers. What Mitchell will do when the big guys are back is scary because he can play the four, which will make Kentucky a much bigger team. The Cats don't win this ballgame without Mitchell's performance.
