Kentucky Briefing: Is Ugonna Onyenso going to make his season debut against Penn?

It looks like we could see Ugonna Onyenso against the Penn Quakers.

Ugonna Onyenso had an offseason surgery that has kept him off the floor for the first month of the season. No one really knew when he would be back on the floor, but a social media post might shine some light on that.

Kentucky basketball just posted a pregame picture on Facebook and Twitter/X that had sophomore seven-footer Onyenso's jersey set up and ready to be put on.

This isn't the first time the social media team hinted at a return of the big man as yesterday they posted a photo of him, and he was clearly on the court practicing.

To me, I thought this meant we had a shot to see him against North Carolina, but perhaps we could see him on the floor in this ball game against Penn.

This does not mean 100% Onyenso will play, but it would be ridiculous to post a picture of his jersey and him not suit up.

The Cats are getting very close to 100% as we approach the beginning of SEC play.

*UPDATE: Onyenso will not play in this game we found out 25 minutes after putting this up. Coach Calipari said, "He won't play tonight, but hopefully by next weekend we will have another guy."

We wrote it

I wrote about Kentucky practicing in the Philadelphia 76ers facility ahead of the matchup with Penn.

"The Cats are set to take on the Penn Quakers in the Wells Fargo Center, which is the home of the Philadelphia 76ers and, of course, former Kentucky star Tyrese Maxey."

"Kentucky is currently practicing in the 76ers facility, which is exciting for the student-athletes."

"These players have gotten a ton of opportunities to practice in NBA facilities as they have played in Madison Square Garden and will play in State Farm Arena (home of the Atlanta Hawks) next Saturday."
