If Ugonna Onyenso does play against North Carolina, how many minutes will he play?
According to Coach Calipari in his Monday radio show, sophomore seven-footer Ugonna Onyenso is set to make his season debut against UNC, barring any setbacks.
This will be the second seven-footer the Cats got back as Aaron Bradshaw returned to game action against UNC Wilmington.
Onyenso has put on a ton of muscle over the offseason, so having him on the floor could be a huge help in this game against Armando Bacot.
On the 2023-24 Kentucky basketball roster, Onyenso is listed at 7'0, 247 pounds, while on the 2022-23 roster, he was listed at 6'11 225. This means Onyenso has put on 22 pounds of muscle over the offseason.
This added muscle should make Big Blue Nation feel much better about Onyenso being able to guard a player like Bacot.
If I had to guess, Coach John Calipari will try and only play Onyenso about 10-13 minutes in this game, but if he is 100% and guarding Bacot well, perhaps it could stretch out to a few more minutes.
If Onyenso is good to go in this ball game, it will be a big boost for this Kentucky team looking to pick up their second top-ten win.
