Where does Kentucky sit in the SEC standings after midweek action?

SEC Basketball standings after midweek action.

We are in the heat of SEC basketball now, over the halfway point of the 18 game conference schedule.

Kentucky is 6-4 in conference play, which has them in fifth place in the SEC. The Wildcats want to be a top-four seed so they can secure the double bye in the SEC tournament.

Let's take a look at the SEC standings after this week's mid-week action.

SEC Basketball Standings

Alabama: 8-2

South Carolina:8-2

Auburn: 8-2

Tennessee: 7-2

Kentucky: 6-4

Texas A&M: 5-4

Florida: 5-4

Ole Miss: 5-5

LSU: 4-5

Mississippi State: 4-6

Georgia: 4-6

Arkansas: 2-7

Vanderbilt: 1-8

Missouri: 0-10

The Wildcats still have matchups with Alabama, Tennessee, and Auburn on the schedule, which will give Kentucky an opportunity to work their way back into one of the top four seeds of the SEC Tournament in Nashville.

Kentucky's chances of winning the SEC Regular Season Title are on life support, but if John Calipari's team can get hot at the right time, it's not completely off the table. One aspect of the schedule that doesn't favor the Wildcats is having to play the second game against Tennessee and the matchup with Auburn on the road. Both of these environments will be tough, and Kentucky hasn't been great on the road.

What Kentucky needs to get back in this race is the team's ahead of them to drop some games that they aren't supposed to.

Auburn and Tennessee both have tough matchups coming up this weekend, so hopefully, they both drop one, and Kentucky can gain some ground on Saturday.
