You won't believe what percentage of points in the NBA All-Star game were scored by former Kentucky Wildcats
The 2024 NBA All-Star weekend was littered with Kentucky Wildcats, as each individual event had at least one former player participating.
First up was the Panini Rising Stars Challenge, in which Team Detlef lost to Team Jalen in the finale despite a great effort from Oscar Tshiebwe, who had eight of Team Detlef's 13 points in the loss.
Tyrese Maxey was on Team All-Stars in the Skills Challenge, and alongside Scottie Barnes and Trae Young they advanced to the final round before losing to Team Pacers.
Jacob Toppin finished third out of four participants in the 2024 Slam Dunk contest, posting an overall score of 95 in his first two rounds. Mac McClung and Jaylen Brown advanced to the final round where McClung ultimately secured his second straight victory - even though he has only played in four NBA games.
Finally we had the All-Star game, in which six former 'Cats suited up - with Julius Randle sitting out due to an injury.
All told Kentucky alumni accounted for a staggering 115 points scored during the game, which was won by the Eastern Conference by a score of 211-186. That means the six Wildcats accounted for 28.9% of all the points scored - although it is primarily thanks to two players.
Karl-Anthony Towns and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the West in minutes played and total points, with KAT dropping 50 points on 23-35 shooting in just under 28 minutes of action. He was 4-13 from three and added eight rebounds and three assists as well. SGA tacked on 31 of his own on an extremely efficient 12-16 shooting, including 7-10 from three and adding six assists and four rebounds.
The four other Wildcats didn't have nearly the impact as those two did, although Devin Booker did have 15 points and seven assists despite a 1-7 display from the three point line.
Davis had six points, eight rebounds, and eight assists on 3-5 shooting to round out the Kentucky alumni in the West, while Maxey had 10 points in 17 minutes and Bam Adebayo added three points for the East.
