One of Kentucky's top PG targets in 2027 has announced his top seven schools

In this story:
We're starting to get into the home-stretch in recruiting with the 2027 class. After a busy spring and summer that included multiple stops around the country for various AAU events, the focus for players now shifts to their high school season and that means visits will be scheduled soon. On Monday, a top point guard target released his top 10 schools and included Kentucky. Now another has cut his list.
2027 top 10 prospect Reese Alston, who is one of Kentucky's most prioritized targets in the class, announced his top seven schools on Monday, which included the Wildcats along with Louisville, Houston, LSU, Tennessee, Vandy and Wichita State. As for visits, Alston has only taken unofficial ones to Kentucky, Louisville and Wichita State. He is expected to set up his official ones soon as he is currently in the process of doing so and you can expect the Wildcats to be one of those trips taken. Alston's unofficial to Kentucky came back in October for Big Blue Madness.

This recruitment is shaping up to be an interesting one. Obviously, Alston still has to take his handful of official visits before making a decision, but both Kentucky and Louisville have been seen as top contenders for a while. The Wildcats clearly see Alston as one of their top point guard priorities, along with Beckham Black. But their pursuit of the Houston native has gotten stronger over the summer and is only growing. Pope and assistant Mikhail McLean watched him this summer at the Puma NXT event down in Texas and the interest has gone up since.
In an article a few weeks ago, On3's Jamie Shaw, a well-respected national recruiting insider, said Kentucky and Louisville are the two names coming up most in speaking with those around Alston. "One source, given where things currently stand, believes the recruitment ultimately comes down to those two schools, with Louisville holding more familiarity within Alston’s circle while Kentucky continues to build its relationship."

It really could be a Kentucky-Louisville battle for their future point guard. Official visits will be taken soon and we'll get a lot more clarity on this recruitment.
