Kentucky football has missed on a 4-star tight end, as coveted 2024 prospect Dylan Mesman announced his commitment to the University of Louisville on Friday, choosing the Cardinals over Kentucky, Auburn, Ole Miss and Michigan State:

The Spartans were thought to be the favorite for the Saline, Mich. product, but coach Jeff Brohm and the Cardinals eventually took center stage and locked down the tight end, who's ranked as the No. 384 overall player and No. 25 TE in the 2024 class, per the On3 Consensus.

Kentucky added a tight end out of the same state in the 2023 class, as 4-star Khamari Anderson became the third high-profile player to come to Lexington from Cass Technical in Detroit, joining former linebacker DeAndre Square and powerhouse defensive lineman Deone Walker. Anderson was one of two TEs added in the class, joined by 3-star Tanner Lemaster (Washington Court House, Ohio).

Mesman is the second tight end recruit to not pick Kentucky, joining 3-star Gavin Grover, who committed to Cincinnati earlier this month. Louisville now has seven commits in the 2024 class, while Kentucky remains with just two — in-state 3-star offensive linemen Hayes Johnson and Aba Selm.
