Kentucky Cracks Top Five for 4-Star Defensive Lineman Dominic Kirks
Kentucky still isn't the frontrunner in Dominic "DK" Kirks' recruitment, but the Wildcats still cleared the latest hurdle to try and land the 4-star defensive lineman on Friday.
Looking to bring a second blue-chip prospect to Lexington alongside quarterback Cutter Boley in the 2024 class, UK has made the top five for Kirks, the No. 385 player in the class, per the On3 Consensus.
He announced his finalists on social media, including UK, as well as Washington, Pittsburgh, Wisconsin and Nebraska:
The announcement comes after Kirks canceled his scheduled visit to Lexington, which was set to come during the jam-packed weekend of June 9-11. He instead took an official visit to Wisconsin and has also been to Pittsburgh and Washington this month.
Coming out of Villa Angela-St. Joseph in Cleveland, Ohio, Kirks held 11 Power 5 offers before trimming down his list. On3 also ranks the 6-foot-5, 250-pounder as the No. 34 DL and No. 14 player coming out of Ohio in his class.
Recruiting coordinator Vince Marrow is leading the charge for the Wildcats, who appear to be behind the pack in the hunt for Kirks' commitment. It may be a tall order having lost the OV for now, but UK isn't down for the count just yet.
