Kentucky Offers 3-Star 2024 Running Back Johann Cardenas
Kentucky football capped off its solid 2023 recruiting class by landing Jamarion Wilcox, a 3-star running back out of South Paulding High School in Douglasville, Ga. Head coach Mark Stoops referred to the tailback as a "lightning bolt."
Winning any recruitment in the backfield should be viewed as crucial. Kentucky has had some pretty good luck in that department during the Stoops tenure, and the thought is that that isn't going to stop now with the addition of new running backs coach and special teams coordinator Jay Boulware.
On Monday, Boulware and the Wildcats extended an offer to 4-star Johann Cardenas. The 6-foot-1, 217-pounder out of St. Thomas Catholic in Houston announced the offer via social media:
Ranked as the No. 309 overall player and No. 25 RB in the 2024 class per the On3 Consensus, Cardenas was previously committed to Texas Tech, but re-opened his recruitment on April 20. Along with Texas Tech and UK, he holds offers from Colorado, Oregon, Georgia Tech, UTSA and SMU.
Cardenas also runs track and field and ran sophomore 100-meter times of 11.13, 11.24, and 11.27. The 11.13 time placed fifth at the TAPPS 6A state championships, meaning there could be another lightning bolt on the radar of UK.
