Evaluating High School Offensive Linemen

Former Kansas State recruit Bill Kuduk ('17) reminds us of the cautionary tales surrounding recruitment decisions.

In 2017 Kansas State was ecstatic to land the commitment of three star offensive lineman Bill Kuduk from Chicago.

And when you look at his film, you can definitely see why. He's a big, mauling lineman at the high school level.

And yet, Kuduk never made an impact on the Wildcats team. He's since gone to Marist, Central Michigan and Kent State in varying degrees of commitment.

This gives us a cautionary tale as we start to consider the 2020 and future recruiting classes.

Often fans wonder why programs invest so much time in recruiting and why so many scholarships are given out. Stories like Kuduk's are the reason why: not every prospect is going to work out.
