Meet Your Standout: Phillip Brooks, KR, Missouri
Averaging 29 yards per kickoff return for the undefeated Kansas State Wildcats this season, former Missouri high school standout Phillip Brooks is making some noise in Manhattan.
Redshirt freshman Phillip Brooks is among the many Wildcats benefiting from new head coach Chris Klieman's willingness to play young players.
After just two games and three kickoff returns, the youngster from Lee's Summit is already proving Klieman's decision correct - averaging 29 yards per return.
We haven't talked much about Brooks in the receiving game - but you can see from his high school film that the work he does to move in space is an incredibly valuable asset, and one the Kansas State coaches are taking advantage of on special teams.
Brooks will have to shore up his route running and needs more consistency with his hands - but it may not be long before we start to see him doing work in other phases of the game.
