Skylar Thompson shares incredible story about life, his mother, and perseverance
Kansas State starting quarterback aspires to be a star on the field. He dreams of graduating and making it to the National Football League.
But he also understands how hard its been to get where he is. K-State Sports published an article recently written by the 3rd year signal caller. In it, Thompson describes the pain and hardship of losing his grandfather and his mother within seven months of each other, before his sixth birthday.

What strikes me most is the honesty with which it is written. Thompson is clearly very cerebral, and thinks about his experiences often. In many ways, this honesty makes him a revered leader in the Kansas State locker room; and also someone who is incredibly easy for the fans to root for.
One of the best parts about this piece, for me, is that nearly everyone can connect with it. I certainly did. This quote, in particular, struck a cord very close to home for me, "Music, in a way, helped us get through this tough stretch in our lives."
Music is unspeakably powerful.
If you were not already a fan of Skylar Thompson, I hope you've taken the time to read his piece and consider his words.
We're all going through something; no one's life is perfect. We can all survive. Thanks, #10.
