Pending Offers, 2020: CJ Stroud, QB, California
RANCHO CUCAMONGA High School has produced NFL talent in the past - six former players have made their way in to the professional ranks including notable talents: defensive back Patrick Chung and wide receiver Vincent Brown.
The next player on the list is CJ Stroud, a class of 2020 Pro Style Quarterback who this year was part of the Elite 11 quarterback series. In fact, he was the MVP of the series.
247Sports ranked him as the top prospect in this year's Elite 11 competition.
He's certainly worked hard this summer - and has opened many more opportunities for himself as the summer has progressed.
The one big knock on Stroud at the moment is that he needs to bulk up some to withstand hits at the major college football level. He stands 6'2", but at only 194lbs he has room to build.
But the rest of his skill set is clearly there: strong arm, good footwork, high football IQ, accuracy. Stroud has all of the tools to be elite at the next level and beyond.
Stroud is the 46th ranked prospect in California for 2020; and the 25th ranked pro style quarterback nationally. But all indications are that the summer and Fall will see him shooting up boards.
With the commitment of Will Howard for the 2020 class, the odds of Stroud committing to Coach Klieman and Manhattan seem lower than they may have been a month ago. Stroud has received numerous other D1 offers including Cal, Washington State, Colorado, Michigan State, Oregon State, among others.
Time will tell as Stroud does not seem to be close to making a decision as of today. Kansas State would be exceedingly lucky to lock up his commitment.
