Louisville Secures No. 5 Seed for ACC Tournament
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - With the conclusion of the regular season following Sunday's slate of games across the Atlantic Coast Conference, the bracket for the league's women's basketball tournament is now officially set.
Sporting a conference record of 12-6 (23-8 overall), Louisville barely missed out on clinching a double bye, instead earning the No. 5 seed for the ACC Tournament. The Cardinals will open postseason play on Thursday, Mar. 7 at 11:00 a.m. EST on the ACC Network, and face the winner of 12th-seeded Clemson and 13th-seeded Boston College.
Louisville went a perfect 3-0 during the regular season against Clemson and Boston College. The Cardinals took down the Tigers, 81-64, in Clemson on Jan. 18 in their lone matchup of the season. Louisville swept a home-and-away and the Eagles, winning 88-60 on Jan. 25 at the KFC Yum! Center, then escaping with a 69-67 victory on Feb. 15 in Chestnut Hill, Mass.
While Louisville certainly had their ups and downs over the course of the 2023-24 season, it was still a highly successful campaign overall. They were able to clinch their 14th consecutive 20-win season, and 16th overall in 17 seasons under head coach Jeff Walz.
Louisville is 14-8 all-time in the ACC Tournament and 8-1 in the ACC Quarterfinals. The Cardinals enter the postseason with a 25-15 record in conference tournaments under Walz, winning the ACC Championship in 2018 and reaching seven league title games since his hiring in 2007.
The ACC Tournament is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, Mar. 6 at 1:00 p.m. EST, with the Clemson/Boston College game. The first round, second round, quarterfinals and semifinals will be televised on the ACC Network, with the ACC Championship taking place on Sunday, Mar. 10 at 1:00 p.m. EST on ESPN.
