Elite '24 F Mackenly Randolph Commits to Louisville
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Jeff Walz and the Louisville women's basketball program have struck again out on the recruiting trail, landing yet another elite prospect with strong basketball bloodlines.
Chatsworth (Calif.) Sierra Canyon forward Mackenly Randolph, a five-star prospect in the Class of 2024, announced Saturday that she has given her verbal pledge to the Cardinals. She chose Louisville over finalists Notre Dame and Michigan State.
Randolph is the daughter of former NBA big man Zach "Z-Bo" Randolph, who was a two-time All-Star with the Memphis Grizzlies in 2010 and 2013. The elder Randolph also played for the Portland Trailblazers, New York Knicks, Los Angeles Clippers and Sacramento Kings during his 17 years in the NBA.
Randolph is the second 2024 prospect who is the daughter of an NBA All-Star to commit to Louisville. Izela Arenas, the daughter of former Washington Wizards guard Gilbert Arenas, committed to the Cardinals this past October. Arenas is also high school teammates with Randolph at Sierra Canyon.
The 6-foot forward is more than just the daughter of a former NBA star. Randolph is regarded as the No. 6 forward and No. 21 prospect in the 2024 cycle according to ESPN, and is a 2024 McDonalds All-American.
As a senior, Randolph helped guide Sierra Canyon all the way to the CIF Southern Section Open Division championship game this past Friday, before falling to Etiwanda 65-44. The Trailblazers finished with a 30-2 record, and were ranked as the No. 4 team in the nation heading into Friday's title matchup.
Randolph also has international experience, participating in the 2022 FIBA U17 World Cup with the USA Basketball Women's U17 National Team. In seven games, she averaged 9.3 points and 5.6 rebounds, helping the USA capture the gold medal.
Louisville now sports a five-person recruiting class in the 2024 cycle with Randolph's commitment, joining Arenas, Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy's Taijianna Roberts, Detroit (Mich.) Renaissance forward Anaya Hardy and Australian post Isla Juffermans.
