LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Louisville men’s basketball program has added Pepperdine to their 2023-24 schedule, and will face them at the KFC Yum! Center, according to a report from CBS Sports college basketball insider Jon Rothstein. A date was not mentioned by Rothstein.

Under the guidance of Lorenzo Romar, who is in his second stint as the head coach at Pepperdine, the Waves posted a 2022-23 season that was near as rough as Louisville's was. They started the year at 7-6, only to lose 16 of their final 18 games - including going one-and-done in the West Coast Conference Tournament - to finish with a 9-22 overall record.

This is the sixth known non-conference opponent that Louisville will face in the 2023-24 season. They will host Kentucky and Bellarmine on yet-to-be-announced dates, travel to DePaul on Saturday, Dec. 9, and play two games in Madison Square Garden on Nov. 19-20 for the Empire Classic in a field that includes UConn, Indiana and Texas.

The Cardinals will also play a yet-to-be-named opponent as part of the ACC/SEC Challenge, an event that replaces the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.

Louisville will be looking for a massive rebound in their second year under head coach Kenny Payne. During his first season at the helm, the Cardinals went just 4-28 overall and 2-18 in ACC play, setting a new program record for most losses in a single season.
