Report: Louisville Reaches Out to Washington Transfer Keyon Menifield
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - There's a new target in the transfer portal for the Louisville men's basketball program.
The Cardinals are one of several Power Five schools that have reached out to former Washington guard Keyon Menifield since he entered the portal on Tuesday, according to The Athletic's Tobias Bass.
While the 6-foot-1, 150-pound point guard was only ranked as the No. 217 overall prospect in the Class of 2022 according to the 247Sports Composite, he went on to have a very productive freshman campaign for the Huskies this past season.
He put up the second-most points per game on the team with 10.0, shot 41.0 percent from the field and 33.0 percent on threes, while also adding 3.1 assists and 2.9 rebounds over 32 games and 21 starts. He was named to the Pac-12 All-Freshman Team for his efforts
Since the end of their season, where they went just 4-28 under first year head coach Kenny Payne, roster management has been in full swing for the Cardinals. On top of losing El Ellis to the NBA Draft, Louisville has seen six players enter the transfer portal: Kamari Lands, Devin Ree, Fabio Basili, Sydney Curry, Roosevelt Wheeler and Jae'Lyn Withers.
Conversely, Payne and his staff have been hard at work behind the scenes attempting to bring in fresh talent for next season. Earlier this month, the Cardinals landed former Illinois guard Skyy Clark, five-star 2023 center Dennis Evans and five-star 2023 reclass wing Trentyn Flowers. Louisville is also set to welcome top-70 wings Kaleb Glenn and Curtis Williams Jr., plus JUCO guard Koron Davis as part of their 2023 signing class.
