USA Today Projects Trentyn Flowers as Lottery Pick in Early 2024 NBA Mock Draft

The incoming freshman guard/forward for the Louisville men's basketball program is their highest-rated prospect in the Class of 2023.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The 2023 NBA Draft might have only just wrapped up last week, but it's never too early to start looking towards next year's draft and project who could be some of the top picks in 2024. While the Louisville men's basketball program hasn't had a player drafted since 2021, one current Cardinal is already generating lottery pick speculation.

USA Today's For The Win recently put together their own early first round 2024 NBA Mock Draft using "intel, research, scouting, deep data dives, and continued conversations with experts around the league." With that, they are projecting that incoming freshman guard/forward Trentyn Flowers will be selected with the No. 11 overall pick by the Oklahoma City Thunder.

"Trentyn Flowers is one of our favorite sleeper picks, although he was indeed a standout during the 2022 Nike EYBL Peach Jam tournament," For The Win's Bryan Kalbrosky wrote. "He averaged 21 points, 10.4 rebounds and 4.0 assists per 40 minutes. 'His versatility is there,' an NBA scout told For The Win. 'He can facilitate and initiate offense as a secondary playmaker. He can score at every level and play above the rim.' Flowers already has a great feel for the game and he offers pro-caliber size, conditioning and work ethic."

Originally a member of the Class of 2024 before reclassifying to the 2023 cycle when he committed to Louisville in March, the 6-foot-8, 210-pound wing ranks as high as the No. 4 small forward and the No. 18 player in the 2024 cycle, according to ESPN. He is a 247Sports Composite five-star prospect in the 2023 class, coming in as the No. 23 overall player in the nation according to the metric. Out of the Cardinals five incoming freshman, Flowers is their highest-ranked.

Flowers was recently invited to training camp at the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo. for a chance at making the 2023 USA U19 Men's National Team. He was one of 30 players invited, and made the 18-man first cut before being left off of the final 12-man roster.

Flowers had an extremely productive freshman campaign for Huntington (W.Va) Prep, averaging 20 points, 10 rebounds and five assists per game. He transferred to Chatsworth (Calif.) Sierra Canyon midway through his sophomore year, then later transferred to Charlotte (N.C.) Combine Academy last summer, where has averaged 16.0 points and 6.0 rebounds in 26 games during his junior year.
