Louisville Opens as Eight-Point Road Favorite at Pitt
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - After coming out on top with a convincing victory over Notre Dame, oddsmakers are liking the Louisville football program to continue their undefeated start to the season when they travel to Pitt.
According to Circa Sports, the No. 14 Cardinals have opened up as an 8.0-point favorite over the home Panthers. The over/under has been set at 47.5
Facing one of the best teams in college football, Louisville (6-0, 3-0 ACC) dominated the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball against Notre Dame. The Fighting Irish were held to 44 rushing yards, quarterback Sam Hartman was sacked four times and had five turnovers, while Cardinals running back Jawhar Jordan ran for 145 yards and two touchdowns.
As for Pitt (1-4, 0-2 ACC), it has been the exact opposite season for them. The Panthers are coming off of their bye week, but have dropped four in a row and are off to their worst start since 2005, most recently suffering a 38-21 defeat at Virginia Tech in week five. During the bye, starting quarterback Phil Jurkovec was benched in favor of backup Christian Veilleux.
Louisville is 3-3 against-the-spread so far this season, whereas Pitt is 1-4. The Cardinals are 0-1 ATS on the road despite being 1-0 straight up, while the Panthers are 1-2 both ATS and straight up at home.
Louisville was able to cover vs. Murray State (-43.5), vs. Boston College (-14.0) and vs. Notre Dame (+6.5); but failed to do so vs. Georgia Tech (-7.0), vs. Indiana (-10.0) and at NC State (-3.5).
Pitt's lone cover came in their opener vs. Wofford (-37.5); but have failed to cover vs. Cincinnati (-6.5), at West Virginia (+2.5), vs. North Carolina (+7.0) and at Virginia Tech (-3.0) since.
Kickoff vs. Pitt is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 14 at 6:30 p.m. EST.
