Louisville Releases Injury Report for Start of Spring Practice
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Spring is inching ever so closer, and with it comes spring ball all across college football.
As for Louisville, they are set to kick off their 2023 spring practice on Tuesday with practice No. 1. It will be the first organized practice under new head coach Jeff Brohm since he returned to his alma mater last December.
As with football, it's hard to have a completely healthy roster at any time of the year, even in the offseason. The Cardinals are no exception, and ahead of the start of spring ball, they released a pre-spring injury report.
Eight players are slated to miss some capacity of spring practice due to injury. Four players are slated to miss the entirety of spring practice: defensive end Mason Reiger, wide receiver Chris Bell, offensive lineman Makhete Gueye and walk-on defensive lineman Yirayah Lanier.
The other four players will miss the start of practice, but are "rehabbing from injury and could be available at some point during the spring," according to the release. This includes safety Josh Minkins, cornerback Quincy Riley, wide receiver Jadon Thompson and quarterback Pierce Clarkson.
Louisville noted that Clarkson, a true freshman quarterback that fans have been dying to see, broke his toe during the offseason but "should be back in a limited basis by the end of practice." No other players had their injuries specified.
Tuesday's practice, which will begin at 4:00 p.m. EST at L&N Stadium, will be one of six practices open to the public. Fans will also get to watch practice sessions on Saturday, March 25 at 9:45 a.m., Saturday, April 1 at 9:45 a.m., Friday, April 7 at 4:00 p.m., Friday, April 14 at 4:00 p.m., and the spring game on Friday, April 21 at 7:00 p.m.
