Louisville Football Bowl Projections: 2023 Week 14

The Cardinals are still a consensus pick among projectors to reach a specific New Year's Six bowl despite the loss to Kentucky.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Louisville football program might have ended the regular season with a loss to Kentucky, but that hasn't impacted where bowl projectors believe they will be heading after the ACC Championship Game vs. Florida State.

Like last week, the Cardinals are a consensus to reach the Orange Bowl. However, bow projectors still aren't in complete agreement as to who their opponent will be.

Most projectors believe that Louisville is in line to face Ohio State after their loss to Michigan. However, some projectors still think that the Cardinals will wind up facing the loser of the SEC Championship Game, and there are split opinions on whether that will be Georgia or Alabama.

As a reminder, the ACC utilizes a system where they organize bowls with conference tie-ins into two tiers, but there is no selection order within each tier. The league and their bowl partners "will make team selections based on several factors, including geographic proximity, avoiding repeat appearances and matchups, and regular-season won-loss records," according to the ACC's official website.

The Cardinals will officially learn their postseason draw on Sunday, Dec. 3, following the end of conference championship weekend. The College Football Playoff selection show begins at 12:00 p.m. that day, and Louisville will learn their bowl shortly after.
