Duke Transfer DT Aeneas Peebles Names Louisville to Top Schools

The defensive tackle for the Blue Devils was a Third-Team All-ACC selection in 2023.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Louisville football program has been incredibly active in the transfer portal since the winter transfer window opened, and they're one step closer to landing one of the best available defensive linemen in the cycle.

Aeneas Peebles, a defensive tackle who spent the first four years of his collegiate career at Duke, announced his list of top five transfer destinations on Wednesday, with the Cardinals making the cut. Colorado, Missouri, SMU and Virginia Tech are also in the running.

As of Dec. 13, Peebles is regarded as the sixth-best uncommitted defensive lineman in the transfer portal, according to On3.

The 6-foot-1, 286-pound lineman is coming off of the best season of his career, one which netted him Third-Team All-ACC recognition. Playing in all 12 regular season games, Peebles led the Blue Devils in tackles for loss with 8.5, was second on the team in sacks with 4.0, and also had 40 total tackles, two pass breakups and a forced fumble.

After seeing minimal action during his true freshman campaign in 2020, Peebles became a regular rotation piece on the Duke defensive line in his sophomore and junior seasons. in 38 career games, he has collected 84 tackles, 13.5 for loss, 6.5 sacks, two forced fumbles and three pass breakups.

Potentially landing Peebles would be a huge boost to an already stout Louisville defensive line. While the Cardinals do lose Jermayne Lole and Stephen Herron to graduation, and is expected to lose Ashton Gillotte to the NFL Draft, they return key players such as Mason Reiger, Dezmond Tell and Ramon Puryear, while also adding highly-coveted Harvard transfer Thor Griffith to the fold.

Louisville has landed five players through the transfer portal so far in this cycle, while also seeing eight Cardinals depart and transfer elsewhere.
