LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Just like in the Associated Press Top 25 Poll and the USA TODAY Coaches Poll, the Louisville football program found themselves falling a few spots in the most recent College Football Playoff rankings following their loss to Kentucky to cap off the regular season.

The CFP selection committee placed the Cardinals (10-2, 7-1 ACC) at the No. 14 spot in their penultimate rankings of 2023, down from the No. 10 spot last week. Louisville came in at No. 14 in the Coaches Poll, and No. 15 in the AP Poll.

Despite out-gaining Kentucky 403 to 289 and leading by as much as 10, multiple mistakes in the second half proved to be Louisville's undoing. The Cardinals surrendered a kickoff return for a touchdown, had a pair of fumbles result in Wildcats points, and gave up multiple chunk plays to hand them a 38-31 loss. It marked their fifth-straight loss in the Battle for the Governor's Cup.

Louisville will be back in action this weekend, traveling to Charlotte, N.C. for a showdown with Florida State in the ACC Championship Game. Kickoff against the Seminoles is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 2 at 8:00 p.m. EST.
