Oklahoma Transfer S Daeh McCullough Commits to Louisville
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Louisville football program has pulled yet another defensive back out of the transfer portal.
Safety Daeh McCullough, a former four-star Class of 2023 prospect who spent the first of his collegiate career at Oklahoma, announced Saturday that he has committed to the Cardinals.
McCullough is the second transfer portal commitment of the day for Louisville following former Houston offensive tackle Reuben Unije, and their third over the last two days along with former Toledo running back Peny Boone.
The 6-foot-1, 181-pound defensive back played in just one game during his lone season with the Sooners, logging four snaps for no stats in OU's season-opener against Arkansas State.
However, McCullough's lack of early playing talent certainly wasn't due to a lack of talent. The South Bend, Ind. native was a consensus four-star prospect in the Class of 2023, and was ranked as the No. 417 prospect in the cycle according to the 247Sports Composite. As a senior at St. Joseph's, he logged 60 tackles, a sack and an interception in just seven games.
With McCullough - as well as Eastern Illinois' Blake Ruffin - in the fold, Louisville now has multiple options on the back end at safety. They bring back starter Devin Neal, and are slated to get back starter M.J. Griffin following his injury in the 2023 preseason. D'Angelo Hutchinson also made strides as the 2023 season went on, and Benjamin Perry continues to be a viable option at STAR.
McCullough is the 19th player to transfer to Louisville in this cycle, and the fifth defensive back following Ruffin, UCF corner Corey Thornton, North Carolina corner Tayon Holloway and Florida corner Jalen Kimber. The Cardinals have also seen 18 scholarship players of their own enter the portal during the winter transfer window.
The Cardinals finished their 2023 season with an overall mark of 10-4 (7-1 in ACC) including a berth in the program's first ever ACC Championship Game, but ended year one under head coach Jeff Brohm on a three-game losing streak.
