Deuce Adams' Junior Year Highlights: HERE (Hudl)

Frame: Adams has a good base frame that you would want out of an eventual Power Five quarterback. He's got the height, and he has a pretty long wingspan for his position. He just needs to add a decent amount of weight/strength to his somewhat lanky frame.

Athleticism: While Adams doesn't have blazing open field speed, he's definitely not a statue. He does have underrated agility/maneuverability and a sneaky good ability to shed tackles, but it won't blow you away and he doesn't display it with consistency. His arm strength is good but not great, and adding more strength will eventually improve this.

Instincts: One could call Adams a mobile quarterback, but he's far from a run-first guy, as he mainly uses his physical tools to extend plays. Even with pressure in his face, or when he escapes the pocket and has green grass ahead, he almost always keeps his eyes down field. He does a pretty good job of going through his reads to find the open man, and his decision making is mostly good. Film does show a handful of throws that would likely get picked off at the college level, but that can be fixed with coaching.

Polish: Adams is also a middle infielder in baseball, and you can tell immediately when watching the film. Whether he's standing in the pocket or on the run, he can make throws from several different arm slots. His best overall trait is his above average accuracy, as he consistently hits receivers in stride or puts it to where only his guy can high point the ball. He has great touch on his passes, especially on deep throws, but sometimes has a little too much touch on passes over the middle. Also needs to work on selling the play action.

Bottom Line: Adams is a good and underrated pickup for Louisville. He made huge strides in his game from his sophomore year to his junior year, and with some added reps (and maybe some added weight/strength), he could be in line for a huge senior year. He likely won't challenge Pierce Clarkson for the starting quarterback job in 2024, but he gives the position some much needed long term depth.
