Louisville Announces Multiple Future Football Schedule Updates
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - With how far in advance games are scheduled all throughout college football, there's bound to be a handful of changes from time to time. Louisville is no exception.
On Wednesday, the Cardinals announced multiple updates to various future football schedules, ranging from rescheduling previously announced matchups to adding new ones entirely.
The most notable change came with Louisville's scheduled road contest at Notre Dame on Nov. 7, 2026. That game has been moved up two years, and will now be played on Sept. 28, 2024 in South Bend.
There were also three other changes regarding the 2024 season, which will be head coach Jeff Brohm's second season at the helm. A matchup against Austin Peay was added for their season opener on Aug. 31, 2024.
To counter the additions of the Notre Dame and Austin Peay games, the road game against USF - which was what was originally going to be played on Aug. 31, 2024 - has been moved back three years to Sept. 4, 2027, and the home matchup against VMI that was scheduled for Sept. 14, 2024 has been pushed back five years to Sept. 8, 2029.
Louisville's 2024 schedule could be subject to further change later on down the line with reports that the Hoosiers could be looking to get out of their scheduled 2024 and 2025 matchups with the Cardinals. But for now, UofL is set to host Austin Peay, Georgia Tech, Indiana, Miami, North Carolina and Syracuse in 2024; while traveling to Clemson, Kentucky, Notre Dame, Virginia, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest.
The Cardinals also announced two other future schedule changes on Wednesday: Louisville's Sept. 4, 2027 game against Richmond was moved back one week to Sept. 11, 2027, and they added a matchup with Stephen F. Austin on Sept. 7, 2030.
