LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Taking on Kentucky in their annual Battle for the Governor's Cup, the Louisville football program was unable to overcome costly late mistakes, falling 38-31 to extend their losing streak in the rivalry to five in a row.

Team Notes:
- Louisville falls to 15-20 in the all-time series vs. Kentucky, including 5-10 at L&N Stadium.
- Louisville falls to 10-2 overall, a record it last achieved in 2012.
- Louisville moves on to face Florida State in the ACC Championship game in Charlotte on Dec. 2 with an opportunity to clinch an Orange Bowl berth with a win.
- Louisville outgains Kentucky, amassing 403 yards of total offense while allowing 289 yards.
- Louisville holds Kentucky to 83 rushing yards, the eighth time in 12 games this year it has held an opponent under 100 yards on the ground.
- Louisville allows a kickoff return for a touchdown for the first time since Alabama had one on Sept. 1, 2018.
- Louisville opens the second half with a 15-play, 75-yard touchdown drive that took 9:10 off the clock.
- The 15 plays were the most in a Louisville scoring drive since a 15-play touchdown drive vs. Florida State on Sept. 25, 2021.

- Kentucky is Louisville's first opponent to finish a game with no penalties since Pittsburgh on Nov. 12, 2011.
- Louisville scores on its first possession for the ninth time in 12 games this season, including eight touchdowns.
- Louisville extends its streak of holding opponents scoreless on their first possession to 16 games.
- Louisville's winning streak when holding opponents scoreless in the first quarter ends at 19 games.
- The last such loss was 27-3 at Virginia on Sept. 22, 2018.
Player Notes:
- QB Jack Plummer was 24-of-33 passing for 242 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. He rushed 11 times for 19 yards and was sacked twice for 13 yards.
- RB Jawhar Jordan rushed for 67 yards on 17 carries, scoring twice on a pair of one-yard runs.
- WR Ahmari Huggins-Bruce had two receptions for 24 yards, scoring his fifth touchdown of the season on a 21-yard pass from Plummer
- TE Joey Gatewood had two receptions for 25 yards, scoring his third touchdown of the season on an 11-yard pass from Plummer.
- S Benjamin Perry led the Cards' defense with a career-high nine tackles including a career-high 2.5 tackles for loss.
- DL Ashton Gillotte had his 11th sack of the season and 21st of his career to go with four tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, and a quarterback hurry.
- Gillotte moved up to a tie for seventh on Louisville's season sacks list.
- Gillotte moved up to tenth on Louisville's career sacks list.
- DL Kameron Wilson had the first solo sack of his career to go with two tackles and a tackle for loss.
- DB Jarvis Brownlee logged his first interception of the season and the third in his Louisville career to go with two tackles.
- K Brock Travelstead made his 15th field goal of the year from 46 yards.
- Travelstead moves up to a tie for seventh most field goals made in a season at Louisville.
