The highlights, photo gallery and team & player notes from the Cardinals' win vs. the Racers.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Playing in their first home game under head coach Jeff Brohm, the Louisville football program left little doubt against in-state FCS foe Murray State, cruising to a 56-0 victory at L&N Stadium.

Team Notes:

  • Jeff Brohm wins his first home opener at Louisville as the Cards improve to 69-33-3 in home openers.
  • Louisville improves to 15-6 vs. Murray State, including wins in the past seven consecutive meetings.
  • Louisville wins its 24th consecutive game against FCS opponents with a 36-7 overall record.
  • The Cards record their first shutout victory since a 30-0 win vs. Syracuse on Nov. 20, 2020, and their largest shutout victory since a 72-0 win vs. Florida International on Sept. 21, 2013.
  • Louisville amasses 690 yards of total offense while holding Murray State to 166 yards.
    • The 690 yards is Louisville's 9th highest total in a game.
    • The 524-yard margin in total offense is the second highest in a game, trailing only the 596-yard margin vs. Murray State on Sept. 30, 2017.
  • Five Louisville quarterbacks completed a pass in a game for the first time in school history.
    • Prior to this season, four quarterbacks had completed a pass in an entire season only four times – in 1955, 1983, 2014, and 2018.
    • All nine quarterbacks on the roster played.
  • Louisville rushes for six touchdowns in a game for the first time since rushing for seven TDs vs. both Syracuse and Florida State in back-to-back games in Sept. 2016.

Player Notes:

  • QB Jack Plummer finished 16-of-22 for 247 yards passing with one touchdown and two interceptions in addition to five rushing yards.
  • RB Jawhar Jordan rushed for 135 yards on seven carries, scoring on runs of 72 yards and one yard.
    • Jordan logged his fifth career 100-yard rushing game, all coming in the last seven games.
    • Jordan is the first Louisville player since Javian Hawkins in 2020 to have rushing touchdowns of 70+ yards in back-to-back games.
  • RB Keyjuan Brown rushed for 65 yards on 11 carries and a touchdown, becoming the first true freshman to score a touchdown since Trevion Cooley vs. Air Force on Dec. 28, 2021.
  • WR Jamari Thrash had six receptions for 82 yards, including a 73-yard touchdown, to go with a 12-yard rushing touchdown on a pitch.
  • K Brock Travelstead made eight of eight PAT attempts and punted twice for a 52.5-yard average.
  • LB T.J. Quinn led Louisville with six tackles to go with a fumble recovery and a quarterback hurry.
  • DB Devin Neal recovered a fumble and intercepted a pass, becoming the first Louisville player to do so in a single game since Kei'Trel Clark did it vs. Syracuse on Nov. 20, 2020.
    • Neal added five tackles and one pass breakup.
  • DB Cam'Ron Kelly, TE Nate Kurisky, DL Jermayne Lole, and made their first starts as Cardinals.
