Louisville OL Bryan Hudson Named to Rimington Trophy Watch List

The award is presented annually to the top center in college football.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Louisville center Bryan Hudson has been named to the watch list for the 2023 Rimington Trophy, the Rimington Trophy Committee announced Friday.

Hudson is one of 40 players to be named to the watch list for this year's Rimington Trophy, which is presented annually to the top center in college football. The redshirt senior is also one of seven players from the ACC to make the list.

For Hudson personally, this is his third major preseason honor. He was also named to the watch list for the 2023 Outland Trophy, and was Louisville's lone preseason All-ACC selection

He is the fourth Louisville player to be named to a watch list so far this preseason. Quarterback Jack Plummer made the watch list for the 87th Maxwell Award, defensive end Ashton Gillotte was tabbed to the watch list for the 2023 Wuerffell Trophy, and running back Jawhar Jordan made the list for the 2023 Paul Hornung Award.

The 6-foot-4, 310-pound center was the anchor of one of the more underrated offensive lines in the ACC. With a Pro Football Focus grade of 76.9, he was the third-highest rated offensive lineman in the ACC, and the league's second-highest rated center behind NC State's Grant Gibson. Allowing only 14 pressures all season out of 462 pass block snaps and 914 total offensive snaps, Hudson was tabbed as a Second-Team All-ACC selection.

Louisville finished the 2022 season with an overall mark of 8-5, including 4-4 in the ACC and a 24-7 win in the Fenway Bowl over Cincinnati. The Cardinals will kick off their 2023 season against Georgia Tech in the Aflac Kickoff Game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Ga. on Friday, Sept. 1.
