Watch: Louisville DE Stephen Herron, OT Eric Miller Preview Holiday Bowl vs. USC
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Louisville football program might have been able to achieve a ten-win season in Jeff Brohm's first season as the head coach, but they aren't heading into the postseason with much momentum.
The Cardinals dropped their annual rivalry game against Kentucky in their regular season finale, them found themselves on the wrong end of a defensive dual against Florida State in the ACC Championship Game.
"It's a one game season, but one thing that I think we are trying to emphasize to the guys is, going into the offseason with the with the losses, it changes how you look on the offseason," defensive end Stephen Herron said. "It leaves a bad taste in your mouth. If you lose a few, but you're able to come out on top against a good team in a bowl game at a good site, you go into the offseason with a little bit- still that chip on your shoulder, but a little bit of a smile on your face, and understand that you guys still have what it takes."
That being said, Louisville has a fantastic opportunity to head into the offseason with the wind in their sails. They'll wrap up their 2023 season with a matchup against USC in the Holiday Bowl, with kickoff against the Trojans scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 27 at 8:00 p.m. EST. from Petco Park in San Diego, Calif.

"They're one of the top dogs, the blue bloods of college football, and they have been for a long, long time," offensive tackle Eric Miller said. "It's a program with great tradition, they're gonna have talent everywhere on the field. They've been on the wrong side of some close games against some really good teams, so they're a lot better than the record's going to show you. They're going to have dudes all over the place, they're gonna be athletic. We've got a good challenge ahead of us, especially offensively."
Prior to their bowl matchup, Herron and Miller took time to meet with the media. They discussed the season as a whole, previewed the upcoming matchup against USC, and more.
