Louisville Football Recruiting Update: July 20, 2020

An update in the world of Louisville Football recruiting.

While this past week was not as active of a recruiting period for the Louisville Cardinals football program as others have, there is still plenty going on. Between offering scholarships, landing commitments and recruits trimming their lists, head coach Scott Satterfield and Co. are still trying to round out the Class of 2021 and are also planning for future classes. Let's check out some of the latest news coming from the world of Louisville Football recruiting:

Newest Scholarship Offers:

  • KJ Cloyd
    • Outside Linebacker - Three Star
    • 6'2", 215lbs
    • Uncommitted (Class of 2021 - JUCO)

Top Schools

Jah'von Grigsby - Safety

With just four spots left in the Class of 2021, one of those spots could go to Grisgby. The Scotlandville Magnet (LA) product is an incredibly athletic & physical safety, regularly delivering tackles and hits where the ballcarrier stops dead in his tracks. A 5-10 & 185-pound prospect, he is the No. 20 player in the state of Louisiana and the No. 49 safety in the Class of 2021 according to 247Sports’ in-house rankings. By their composite rankings, he is the No. 692 player in the nation.

Off the Board

Jaylen Henderson - Quarterback

- Committed to Fresno State. Had previously listed Louisville in top eight schools.

James Jackson - Outside Linebacker

- Committed to Virginia. Was a top linebacker target prior to Jaylin Alderman's commitment.

Commits:

Jaylin Alderman - Inside Linebacker

The six-foot-one & 215-pound prospect might be under-ranked by most of the main recruiting services, but Alderman is the kind of player who would have benefitted greatly from summer camps and evaluation periods had they not been cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic. He was chosen as a Class 6-A First Team All-State selection, and was also named Valdosta's Defensive MVP as a junior.

Christian Pedersen - Tight End

The Junipero Serra (CA) product stands tall at the line of scrimmage, listed at 6-foot-5 and 230-pounds. He is the No. 38 tight end in the Class of 2021 and the No. 72 prospect in the state of California according to 247Sports' in-house rankings. With a frame as large as his, he is a natural blocker and has no issue continuing blocking assignments into the second level. He is also surprisingly nimble for a player of his stature, showing above average burst for a high school tight end.
