LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Hosting Miami (Ohio) in a midweek matchup before kicking off ACC play this weekend, the Louisville baseball program was able to hold off a late push from their visitors, coming out on top with a 6-4 win Wednesday at Jim Patterson Stadium

With the victory against the Redhawks (2-15), the No. 2 Cardinals (15-1) extend their winning streak to 10 in a row. It's the fourth-longest active win streak in Division I, and Louisville's longest streak since opening up the 2018 season with 14 consecutive wins.

Brandon Anderson (2-2, 2 RBI, 2 BB) reached base four times for the Cards, and was the only one to drive in multiple runs of the five Louisville players to collect an RBI. J.T. Benson (2-2, RBI, BB) joined Anderson in having a multi-hit day.

While midweek matchups are normally ones where it's all hands on deck for the pitching staff, starter Kade Grundy (5.0 IP, 4 K, 1 BB, 2 H, 1 ER) went deeper than normal, while also containing Miami (Ohio). He posted the longest midweek start by a Louisville pitcher since Jared Poland went six innings deep against TCU on Mar. 8, 2022, carried a no-hitter into the fifth inning, and only allowed a solo home run.

Louisville's offense was slow going right out of the gates, but got to work through the middle innings. Eddie King Jr. (1-4, RBI) got the scoring started with an RBI single in the third, Anderson collected one in the fourth while also scoring on a fielder's choice later in the frame, then followed that up with another RBI single in the fifth.

Benson gave Louisville a pair of insurance runs in the seventh inning. He tallied an RBI single, then would later score on a sacrifice fly from Logan Beard (0-2, RBI, SF).

Tate Kuehner (1.0 IP, 3 K, 2 BB) tossed a scoreless sixth, as did Alex Galvan (1.1 IP, 2 K, 2 BB, 2 ER) in the seventh, but then Miami (Ohio) made things interesting in the eighth. The Redhawks chased out Galvan after he allowed the first two batters to reach, then collected a bases loaded hit-by-pitch and fielder's choice off of Ben Wiegman (0.1 IP, 1 K, H) to plate a pair.

Evan Webster (1.0 IP, 2 K, 1 H) was able to stop the bleeding in that frame, securing the last out to strand the bases loaded, but the Redhawks persisted. They chased Webster out after he allowed a two-out double in the ninth, then collected a run off of Patrick Forbes (1-5, 2B; 0.1 IP, 1 H, 2 BB) from an RBI single. Kayden Campbell (0.1 IP) inherited a bases loaded jam, but was able to induce a fly out to end the game.

Next up for Louisville, they'll kick off conference play and host a three game weekend series against Georgia Tech. First pitch of game one is slated for Friday, Mar. 17 at 6:00 p.m. EST, and will be televised on ACC Network Extra and broadcast on 93.9 The Ville.
