LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Capping off their top-10 weekend series with Boston College, the Louisville baseball program was able to finish what they started, winning 4-2 Saturday at Jim Patterson Stadium to pull off the three-game sweep.

The No. 9 Cardinals (24-7, 7-5 ACC) earn their first sweep over an ACC opponent since doing so against Clemson last April. Louisville also extends their winning streak over the No. 7 Eagles (21-9, 8-7 ACC) to nine consecutive games.

The winning effort was fueled mainly by a strong effort from starting pitcher Carson Liggett (7.0 IP, 6 K, 1 BB, 5 H). He posted one of the better starts of his collegiate career up to this point, pitching seven scoreless frames for the second time this season (Mar. 5 vs. Michigan) and coming one strikeout short of tying his career-high.

All of Louisville's scoring efforts, and four of their eight hits on the day, came in the fourth inning. Ryan McCoy (1-4, HR, RBI) led off the frame with a solo home run, Patrick Forbes (2-3, BB) scored on a passed ball, and Logan Beard (1-3, RBI) and Christian Knapczyk (1-4, RBI) each collected RBI singles. Forbes and J.T. Benson (2-3, 2B) were the only batters to reach base multiple times for the game.

The Eagles made things a touch interesting late in the game. Kayden Campbell (1.0 IP, 1 K, 1 BB) tossed a scoreless eighth, then Forbes (0.0 IP, 2 BB, 2 ER) was moved from the field to the mound to start the ninth, where he walked the first two batters he faced.

Evan Webster (1.0 IP, 1 BB, 2 H) was inserted behind Campbell, who allowed a sacrifice fly and RBI single to cut Louisville's advantage in half. Fortunately, he was able to get a strikeout with the bases loaded and close the door on the series.

Next up for Louisville, they'll host Kentucky for the home leg of the annual Battle of the Bluegrass home-and-home rivalry series. First pitch of the midweek matchup is slated for Tuesday, Apr. 11 at 7:00 p.m. EST, and will be televised on ACC Network and broadcast on 93.9 The Ville.
