The LSU Tigers will take on the Kentucky Wildcats in the Baton Rouge Super Regional with a trip to Omaha on the line.

In what will be a best-of-three series, Jay Johnson’s group has the chance to build off of their Regional success and continue hitting their stride at the right time.

In just Johnson’s second season at the helm of the program, he has led the Tigers to the Super Regionals after earning the No. 5 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament. Fast forward to this weekend and LSU will play host to the No. 12 overall seeded Wildcats.

Johnson has praised what Kentucky is building, harping on their success in the transfer portal and gelling rather quickly:

“They did a really good job in the transfer portal in high volume with the transfers they got,” Johnson said earlier this season. “It’s a relatively new team but they’re really old and they’re only about winning. No one is worried about getting drafted and they do what they need to do to win and have done it successfully.”

LSU and Kentucky will get their Super Regional matchup started on Saturday at 2pm on ESPN.

Baton Rouge Super Regional Schedule:

Saturday, June 10 - LSU vs. Kentucky at 2pm on ESPN

Sunday, June 11 - LSU vs. Kentucky at 5:06pm on ESPN2

Monday, June 12 - TBD (if necessary)

The Kentucky Wildcats are fresh off of winning the Lexington Regional behind big-time performances at the plate. Against the Tigers, they’ll need much of the same with LSU hitting their stride as of late.

Earlier this year, both programs faced off for a weekend series where the Tigers ultimately got the best of the Wildcats, winning two of the three games.

LSU won game one 16-6, lost game two 13-10 and took home the series with a 7-6 victory in game three.
