LSU Injury Update: Tommy White's Status

White went down with injury in the first inning, didn't return to action.

LSU star third baseman Tommy White left Friday night’s opener after suffering a shoulder injury in the first inning. A scary sight for Tiger fans, White didn’t return to action, but Head Coach Jay Johnson did provide an update following Opening Day.

"I don't think it's as bad [as it could have been], but I don't know," said Johnson, "I don't think he'll play [on Saturday], but I think he's ok."

During Johnson’s postgame show, he addressed the situation and stated White had to have his shoulder popped back into place. As for his status for the rest of the weekend, Johnson said White will “most likely not play” on Saturday with another update coming soon.

Tre’ Morgan Talks Championship or Bust Mentality

“I think that’s kind of what’s driving us. We’re not gonna run from those expectations. We’re picked to go all the way but it’s how we show up every day, every game and every practice,” first baseman Tre Morgan said. “Do we show up as the team that’s supposed to go all the way or do we show up as the team that deserves to go all the way? That’s how we’re taking it.”

Pitching Depth

“It’s kind of weird how good we are. The depth we have. There are so many guys who aren’t starting that would start at other schools,” Saturday Riley Cooper said. “It’s a really good problem to have. This fall and this spring, we’ve been pushing each other to be better, especially with all the arms we have.”
