BREAKING: Ex-DePaul Star Aneesah Morrow Commits to LSU
Ex-DePaul star Aneesah Morrow has announced her commitment to Kim Mulkey and the LSU Tigers after a successful visit to Baton Rouge last weekend. Morrow canceled her visit to South Carolina that was originally set for this weekend.
After hearing from over 33 schools, the No. 2 transfer portal prospect had locked in her final three schools of LSU, USC and South Carolina, visiting USC and LSU before making her decision.
The 6-foot-1 forward is fresh off of averaging a whopping 25.7 points per game on 42.5% from the field. A lethal bucket-getter, she’s also one of the top rebounders in the country, grabbing over 12 a night for her program last season.
In two seasons with DePaul, Morrow has elevated her game to new heights. She earned All-America honors on her way to becoming one of the most dynamic players in the country with her sheer force and elite finishing ability.
As productive as they come in college basketball, Morrow has tallied 53 double-doubles in 66 games played, leading the Big East in rebounds per game in each of her first two seasons.
Mulkey Magic
Morrow will now be paired alongside All-American Angel Reese in LSU’s frontcourt, giving the Tigers two of the top rebounders in the country. Both forwards possess the slithery ability to be in the right place at the right time and use their size in order to control the glass.
Along with Morrow, the Tigers have added Louisville transfer Hailey Van Lith, the No. 1 transfer portal player, after she made her announcement last week. A “superteam” has been built in Baton Rouge.
For Mulkey, this isn’t anything new. A recruiting guru, this is her bread and butter as the Tigers reload their roster with the opportunity to take home back-to-back National Championships.
The “Big Three”
Angel Reese. Hailey Van Lith. Aneesah Morrow. It’s the greatest women’s basketball team ever assembled during this new era of the transfer portal. With immediate eligibility, it makes the offseason a “free agency” form of recruitment.
What is LSU getting in the three superstars? It’s simple. Dominance. Mulkey now has three players who averaged 20+ points per game last season with the addition of Morrow.
The breakdown: Reese handled business a season ago, averaging 23.0 points with 15.4 rebounds a night. For Van Lith, the gifted guard is coming off of a season where she averaged 19.7 points and 4.5 rebounds a game. Lastly, the newest addition, Morrow, averaged 25.7 points and 12.2 rebounds a night for her DePaul squad.
The rich get richer with Morrow coming to town as the Tigers now attain three of the top players in the country. The “Big 3” is one thing, but this program is also set to bring in the No. 1 2023 recruiting class this summer with Mulkey and Co. attaining an embarrassment of riches heading into the 2023-24 season.
