Matt McMahon and the LSU Tigers have picked up their first big transfer portal addition after landing Vanderbilt guard Jordan Wright.

The Baton Rouge native averaged 10.6 points, 5.1 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game for the Commodores last season, leading Vanderbilt to a big-time turnaround under Head Coach Jerry Stackhouse.

Wright has been surgical for the Commodores. A player who can score in the blink of an eye, he fills an immediate need for the Tigers where he will spend his final year of eligibility.

For McMahon and his squad, they get their first big fish via the portal as transfer season gets underway. The Tigers are getting a seasoned veteran in Wright.

After spending four years in Nashville, Wright played in 124 games, starting in 74 of them, where he averaged 9.5 points per game for his career.

The 6-foot-6 guard can get buckets in a hurry as he continues improving his three-point shot. He’s a 41.8 percent shooter from the field and 31.5 percent from 3-point range.

A Tigers squad that struggled on both ends of the floor, McMahon adds a two-way player with Baton Rouge ties as he looks to turnaround this LSU program in his second season.

"We're gonna invest a lot of time with our players. I want people who want to be here, want people who want to be a part of something special because that's what we're gonna build here," McMahon said during his introductory press conference. "My favorite part of the job is not only seeing the best player they can be but the best man they can be. It's my responsibility to grow leaders here at LSU and that's what we're gonna work to do."
