Kim Mulkey, LSU To Host Five-Star Prospect Kate Koval For A Visit

The Tigers will get the top prospect to campus in the fall as they begin their 2024 recruiting efforts.

Kim Mulkey has been dialed in ever since the Tigers won their National Championship back in April. From locking in the No. 1 Transfer Portal class to putting this program in position to secure a top 2024 recruiting class, it’s been nonstop work.

The latest big domino to fall their way? A visit from the No. 3 prospect in the 2024 cycle, Kate Koval. The 6-foot-5 post player locked in her official visit schedule where she will take three visits in September with LSU getting one of their own.

Koval will visit LSU, Miami and Notre Dame this fall after visiting Stanford during the spring. A consensus five-star prospect, the Tigers are getting in early for one of the top prep players in the country.

Koval has earned a ton of national recognition following her standout junior campaign. She was named a Naismith All-American while earning the New York Gatorade Player of the Year award. The Gatorade Player of the Year award recognizes players for their success on the court and off.

For LSU to get a visit from the Top 5 prospect nationally is another win for this program. Last week, the Tigers made the cut for five-star prospect Justice Carlton, who released her final five schools with LSU making the list.

Carlton, No. 4 prospect in the nation and Texas native, has been a hot name on the market over the last year and a half as programs battle for her services. With the defending champion LSU Tigers now heavily in the mix, getting Carlton down to campus will be of the utmost importance.

The 6-foot-2 talent is fresh off of averaging 22.3 points, 9.3 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 2.2 steals, and 2.0 blocks for Seven Lakes High School in Katy, Tex. as a junior. After a dominant run, she was named the 9-6A Offensive Player of the Year.

LSU clearly has their foot on the gas for two of the top prospects in the country with Koval and Carlton being high-priority players.

As the summer goes on, Mulkey and Co. will begin locking in players for their 2024 class as this program builds for the future.
