Not since Tyrann Mathieu's remarkable 2011 season have LSU fans intently followed the Heisman race. That has all changed in 2019 as quarterback Joe Burrow has strung together the greatest single season by an LSU quarterback in program history.

Burrow continues to be recognized for his achievements as BetOnline now has the senior at 4/5 odds to take home college football's most prestigious award. Oklahoma quarterback Jalen Hurts, Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields are still in the mix as Burrow's greatest test lies a week away.

Alabama is the big one as a winning performance out of Burrow will almost certainly guarantee him the Heisman barring a huge upset of LSU. If the Tigers lose to Tua and company, while it will severely damage his odds, it won't eviscerate them.

Burrow is still on pace to shatter the NCAA single-season completion percentage record and has already broken the LSU touchdown record while on the heels of Rohan Davey's 3,347 passing yards record.

Burrow has said time and time again this season that his play will ultimately dictate any individual accolades that come his way and his sole focus is on helping the Tigers remain perfect.

Here's how Burrow stacks up statistically with the rest of the frontrunners:

Burrow: 205-260 (78.8%), 2,805 yds, 30 TD, 4 INT, 125 yds rushing, 3 TD

Tua: 145-194 (74.7%), 2,166 yds, 27 TD, 2 INT, 30 yds rushing, 2 TD

Hurts: 133-180 (73.9%), 2,469 yds, 21 TD, 3 INT, 801 yds rushing, 13 TD

Fields: 128-186 (68.8 %), 1,659 yds, 24 TD, 1 INT, 319 yds rushing, 9 TD
