Live Updates: No. 15 LSU vs. Georgia State in Week 12 Matchup

The Bayou Bengals host Georgia State in the final non-conference showdown of the year.

No. 15 LSU returns to Tiger Stadium for a non-conference matchup against the Georgia State Panthers.

Jayden Daniels and Co. look to continue their offensive success in Death Valley as the Tigers' signal-caller makes his Heisman case once again.

Here's what Brian Kelly said ahead of the matchup, pregame notes and a live thread from Saturday night in Tiger Stadium:

“They come in with nothing to lose and everything to gain,” Kelly said of Georgia State. “For us, it’s still about looking towards getting better each and every week. This will be about our preparation, how we get better in all facets."

Pregame Notes:

- LSU RB Logan Diggs is OUT with an upper-body injury for Saturday night's contest. Expect a deep rotation with Josh Williams, Noah Cain and Kaleb Jackson carrying the weight.

- LSU DT Mekhi Wingo remains OUT and will be replaced by DT Jordan Jefferson alongside Maason Smith inside.

- In the secondary, expect freshmen Javien Toviano and Jeremiah Hughes to see the field on Saturday night. With Sage Ryan and Ashton Stamps starting, the Tigers will utilize a few bodies in the defensive backfield.

First Quarter

Georgia State wins the coin toss and elects to receive. LSU will get the ball to begin the second half. 

Georgia State quarterback Darren Grainger showcasing his dynamic ability early on the first drive with two huge completions and a designed run up the middle. The Panthers are near the red zone. 

Grainger connects with Tailique Williams for a quick pass over the middle for a touchdown. The Panthers march down the field at ease for the score. 

Score Update: Georgia State 7, LSU 0

LSU QB Jayden Daniels displaying why his name is in the Heisman Trophy conversation with back-to-back impressive runs to get the drive going. Daniels is up to 38 yards on the ground on two carries and LSU is near the red zone. 

Daniels connects with Malik Nabers for an 18-yard strike to put LSU on the board. 7-play, 75-yard touchdown drive. 

Score Update: LSU 7, Georgia State 7

LSU rotating in both freshmen Ashton Stamps and Jeremiah Hughes at cornerback opposite of Sage Ryan. Georgia State quarterback Darren Grainger continues attacking the youngsters. He's 8-for-10 for 80 yards in the first quarter. 

Omar Speights and the LSU defense get the third down stop to force Georgia State to punt the football. Javen Nicholas with a 27-yard return and the Tigers will take over on their own 47-yard line. 

LSU with an ugly drive after getting great field positioning. Mason Taylor and Brian Thomas Jr. both with fumbles that the Tigers recovered and several penalties. Nonetheless, Jayden Daniels does what he does best and gets in the end zone on an impressive 14-yard run.

Second Quarter 

The LSU defense remains a thorn in this team's side after allowing Georgia State to once again march down the field for an easy score. 5-play, 75-yard touchdown drive that ends with 44-yard rushing score by Marcus Carroll.

It's been an ugly, undisciplined half of football for the Tigers so far. Four penalties for 50 yards with 10:05 remaining in the first half with several sloppy plays to this point. The only bright spot has been, per usual, Jayden Daniels. 

Jayden Daniels connects with Kyren Lacy over the middle for a 27-yard touchdown. 7-play, 80-yard scoring drive for the Tigers.

Score Update: LSU 21, Georgia State 14

Georgia State quarterback Darren Grainger continues torching the LSU defense as a dual-threat with the ball in his hands. The Panthers get down to the 30-yard line but fail to convert on fourth and seven. LSU will take over with 2:36 remaining in the half. 

Grainger is 16-for-19 on pass attempts with 145 yards and a score. 

LSU wastes no time after getting the ball back. Jayden Daniels connects with Brian Thomas Jr. for a 70-yard touchdown on the first play of the drive. 

Score Update: LSU 28, Georgia State 14

The LSU defense gets a quick stop after forcing Georgia State to punt it away. The Tigers take over on their own 40-yard line. 1:03 until halftime. 

Jayden Daniels hits Kyren Lacy for another touchdown to ballon the LSU lead to three scores. 3-play, 60-yard scoring drive. 

Halftime: LSU 35, Georgia State 14

Third Quarter

Jayden Daniels opens the second half with a quick touchdown drive for LSU. Daniels connects with freshman tight end Mac Markway in the corner of the end zone for the score. Touchdown No. 6 tonight for Daniels.

Score Update: LSU 42, Georgia State 14

The LSU defense came alive in the second quarter and has carried it into the second half. The Tigers come up with another crucial fourth down stop after Sai'vion Jones and Jacobian Guillory combined for the sack. LSU takes over on their own 37-yard line. 

Jayden Daniels once again proving his name deserves to be in the Heisman conversation. Through three quarters, he's up to 349 yards passing on 22-for-26 attempts. Add another 95 yards on the ground. LSU is on the one-yard line with a chance to punch in another score.

End of 3Q: LSU 42, Georgia State 14

Fourth Quarter

Jayden Daniels scores his seventh touchdown of the night on a quarterback sneak from the one-yard line. The Tigers balloon their lead to 49-14.

Score Update: LSU 49, Georgia State 14

Brian Kelly and the Tigers keep Jayden Daniels on the field after the defense forced a Georgia State punt. The Panthers went six plays  before punting the ball away to LSU. Now, Daniels remains in the game with 10:29 remaining. 

The Jayden Daniels Show continues in Baton Rouge after the Tigers' QB1 launched a 40-yard pass to Malik Nabers for a touchdown. That's eight scores for Daniels.
