LSU Football: Army Players to Watch in Week 8 Matchup
No. 19 LSU prepares for a matchup against Army as the Black Knights hit the road to take on the Bayou Bengals in Tiger Stadium.
The Tigers look to extend their home win streak against non-conference opponents to 13 games with a 6:30 p.m. showdown set to take place on Saturday night.
A dive into three Army players to monitor:
Bryson Daily: Quarterback
It's no secret the Black Knights take pride in their rushing attack with a specialty in the triple option. Their signal-caller, Bryson Daily, has served as a game manager for Army through the first half of the season.
Fast forward to Saturday night in Death Valley and LSU must keep tabs on Daily all night. He's a player who can shine with his legs while also dropping back and delivering a pass if need be.
The Numbers: 712 passing yards / 118.7 YPG / 54.5% / 6 touchdowns / 4 interceptions / 100 carries / 416 rushing yards / 3 touchdowns
Hayden Reed: Running Back
Despite Daily leading the team in carries by a significant margin with 100 on the season, Reed is the true running back on this squad. He's second on the squad in carries (47) and leads the running back room in yards (191).
LSU has seen inconsistency from the defensive line play this season, and facing a unique offense in Army, it's imperative this group monitors the triple option at all times in their offensive attack.
The Numbers: 47 carries / 191 yards / 31.8 YPG / 2 touchdowns / 3 receptions / 20 yards / 3.3 YPG / 0 touchdowns
Quindrelin Hammonds: Defensive Back
The Army pass defense is their bright spot. This group has shown the ability to stop the passing game when needed with senior defensive back Quindrelin Hammonds stepping up in a big way this season.
With a flurry of defensive backs who are more than capable of entering the mix and making a play, Jayden Daniels will be on his toes, but the offensive weapons LSU attains will certainly overmatch the Black Knights.
The Numbers: 21 TKL / 1 INT / 1 PD
