LSU Football: Brian Kelly Dishes Out Key JUCO Offer

Tigers looking to add defensive line talent for next season, extend scholarship to Louisiana native.

LSU dished out an offer to former New Orleans (La.) Warren Easton defensive lineman Shone Washington on Saturday, Washington revealed via social media.

The coveted 2022 prospect signed with Georgia out of high school, and after one season with the Bulldogs, he announced his departure from the program.

Washington then decided to take the junior college route this season with an opportunity to transfer to a four-year institution this upcoming offseason.

The 6-foot-4, 270-pounder has received several offers over the last few months, but a visit to Baton Rouge over the weekend could see LSU gain serious momentum.

It's Brian Kelly's goal to lock down the state of Louisiana, especially with players who have entered the NCAA Transfer Portal with ties to the state.

For Washington, it could be a match made in heaven.

He was once committed to the purple and gold in high school before backing off of his pledge. With familiarity to LSU, the Tigers could certainly make an early impression.

LSU is looking to stack defensive linemen for the future, and after missing out on five-stars Colin Simmons and Dominick McKinley, this program is looking elsewhere to fill the void.

Insert a player of Washington's caliber. With SEC experience and versatility up front, the Tigers will turn up the heat for the dominant defensive lineman.

Despite only spending one season at Georgia, and recording only one tackle, Washington has the traits to be a solid piece at his next destination.

He made the decision to transfer to East Mississippi Community College to get a year of playing time under his belt before bouncing back to the Power Five ranks. Now, he's looking to find his new home.

LSU is the latest program to offer after Washington made the trip down to Baton Rouge. Time will tell, but this program will certainly put its foot on the gas for his services.
