LSU Football: Fall Camp Injury Report
Brian Kelly and Co. are beginning to ramp things up during preseason practice as LSU gears up for its season opener against Florida State on Sept. 3.
With fall camp in full swing, there have been a few minor injuries flaring up with the first full week in the rearview mirror.
A look into the handful of injuries:
JK Johnson - Cornerback
Ohio State transfer JK Johnson will be out for an extended period of time after suffering a lower leg fracture during Fall Camp.
Johnson, who started in the spring game for the Tigers, was competing for a starting spot along with Zy Alexander, Duce Chestnut, Denver Harris and Laterrance Welch.
Johnson has been seen in a cast on the sideline this week during camp while rolling around on a scooter.
It’s a tough blow for the former Top 50 recruit who had the chance to take on a major role for LSU early this year.
“JK has a fracture,” Kelly told reporters on Wednesday while the team worked at the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank. “That’s got to get set. That looks to be a long-term situation that he’s going to be out.”
Josh Williams - Running Back
LSU running back Josh Williams was sidelined on Thursday as he continues battling a minor injury. Williams was present during camp on Thursday, but was seen without pads or cleats on as he took in practice.
It looks as though Williams, who is competing for the starting job, will be back sooner rather than later.
Brian Thomas Jr. and Greg Brooks Return
Wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. had been sidelined on Monday and Tuesday as he monitors a minor injury, but after taking both days to rest up, along with a recovery day on Wednesday, Thomas returned to the practice field on Thursday.
Along with Thomas, LSU safety Greg Brooks returned to the field on Thursday. Brooks started practice on Monday before being sidelined early into the day. He missed Tuesday, took a recovery day on Wednesday and returned for this program on Thursday.
Kylin Jackson - Defensive Back
Freshman Kylin Jackson hasn’t been suiting up for the Tigers during fall camp, but on Thursday, he was seen roaming the sideline with his helmet on.
It’s an unspecified injury, but the youngster appears to be trending in the right direction after getting back to the sideline on Thursday.
Jackson was seen with safety Matthew Langlois dressed on the sideline without pads on.
Langlois has struggled to stay healthy during his time in Baton Rouge and looks to be battling another minor injury after being sidelined on Thursday.
Kyle Parker - Wide Receiver
Freshman wide receiver Kyle Parker wasn’t at practice on Day 6. The youngster, who routinely works with special teams as a return man, was not on the field during Thursday’s practice.
LSU Country will monitor the situation to see if he returns on Saturday during the media viewing.
