LSU's Brian Polian Named Athletic Director at John Carroll University
LSU general manager Brian Polian will depart Baton Rouge after accepting a position as the athletic director at his alma mater, John Carroll University.
Despite spending just one season down South, Polian made an impact on the recruiting department in a big way in his role. As special teams coordinator, it was a rocky season for the purple and gold where Polian later accepted an off-field role, but his bread and butter was on the recruiting trail.
The Tigers promoted John Jancek to an on-field role where he has taken over the LSU’s special teams coordinator, and as of today, Polian will take his talents back to JCU.
Polian has been alongside LSU head coach Brian Kelly for quite some time. After following Kelly to Baton Rouge to become a member of his coaching staff, it’s been a journey, but Polian now prepares for a new challenge at his alma mater.
Polian expressed his excitement to take on a new role at JCU:
"In 25 years of coaching, I have moved all over the country. There are only a handful of places that have felt like home. John Carroll University and Northeast Ohio has always been one of those places. I am very grateful to President Miciak for the opportunity to bring our family back to a community that we care for so deeply. It is truly a blessing, and we are incredibly excited to take on this new challenge.
"My time at JCU was transformational in my development as a person. The relationships that were developed on the campus with classmates, teammates, faculty, and staff were some of the most meaningful in my life. It is an honor to lead the athletic department and work alongside the leadership of the University as John Carroll moves into a bright future."
The former special teams coordinator took to social media to thank LSU and the coaching staff in Baton Rouge:
"Thank you to all of the terrific people in the state of Louisiana and at LSU for the last year and a half. The coached and staff that surround LSU football are some of the finest in the country and our lives were enriched by them," Polian wrote in a social media post. "I am grateful to the players and was honored to work alongside these great young men. Most importantly thank you to coach Kelly. Over the last six years he has been an exceptional mentor and friend. Our family will always be cheering for LSU.”
