The Cornerback Big Board: LSU Trending for Several Top Targets

Corey Raymond continues working his magic on the recruiting trail. making moves with top 2025 prospects.

The LSU football staff is dialed in on the recruiting trail with cornerbacks coach Corey Raymond making noise over the last few weeks.

Despite only being on LSU's staff for roughly a month, Raymond has brought in several coveted defensive backs for visits.

Now, the dust has settled and the Bayou Bengals have begun chipping away at a few prized targets.

The latest on a few 2025 prospects to monitor after trips down South:

DJ Pickett: 5-Star Defensive Back

Pickett made his way to Baton Rouge on Jan. 30 for a multi-day stay with Corey Raymond and Co.

The No. 1 safety in America, he's being recruited as a player who can be utilized all over the secondary whether it's at safety or cornerback.

A few tidbits on Pickett's trip to The Boot:

Corey Raymond Leading the Charge

Despite only being on staff for less than a month, Raymond is handling business on "The Trail."

During his previous coaching stint at LSU from 2012-2021, Raymond coached seven players who earned first-team All-America honors along with four first round NFL Draft picks. He had another five players selected in the second round of the NFL Draft and also coached the 2019 Jim Thorpe Award winner Grant Delpit.

Raymond is a former standout defensive back for the Tigers and later went on play six seasons in the NFL.

“Corey’s passion for LSU and the desire for our program to have the best defensive back unit in the country really stood out,” Kelly said following the hire. “Corey’s tremendous knowledge and experience, along with his recruiting success, make him a great addition to a strong defensive staff."

Now, he's had an opportunity to wine and dine the No. 1 safety in America with Pickett making his way to Baton Rouge for a big-time unofficial visit.

Pickett had been in contact with Raymond during his stint with the Florida Gators. Now, after making a return to LSU, he's made an impact on Pickett.

For the Tigers, it's clear the impact Corey Raymond has already had on this program.

LSU reeled in a commitment from the No. 3 cornerback in America, Jaboree Antoine, last month as this program retools its secondary.

Keylan Moses and Other Tigers Drop In

During last month's visit, LSU rolled out the red carpet with members of the Tigers' 2025 recruiting class dropping in to visit with Pickett.

The top recruiter for the 2025 class has been four-star linebacker Keylan Moses and he made sure to check in with Pickett before he departed.

The two went through a photoshoot, discussed future plans and more, sources tell LSU Country.

Along with Moses popping in, 2024 signees DaShawn McBryde and Joel Rogers made an appearance at Pickett's visit.

The trio of safeties took pictures together while the pair of Tigers provided their pitch to Pickett.

Now, the dust has settled with LSU emerging as the top school for Pickett.

Dorian Brew: 4-Star Cornerback

In early February, the Tigers welcomed a surprise visitor to Baton Rouge with the No. 3 cornerback in America taking a surprise trip down South: Dorian Brew.

The four-star 2025 target arrived on Saturday for a trip to Death Valley with secondary coach Corey Raymond leading the push.

Raymond, who's in the midst of a impressive run on "The Trail", welcomed Brew for a quick trip to check out the scenes at LSU before the Dead Period kicked in.

Experts within the industry have logged predictions for Brew to join Ohio State's 2025 class, but after a trip to LSU, it could give the coveted defensive back more to think about as he begins locking in an official visit schedule.

Look for Raymond to turn up the heat for Brew as the Tigers look to move the needle in his recruitment this spring.

Anquon Fegans: Top 5 Safety in America

The Bayou Bengals are picking up steam in the recruitment of the No. 5 safety in America: Anquon Fegans.

An elite 2025 prospect who's been wined and dined by the top programs in the country, the Tigers have work to do, but Raymond and Co. remain in contact with the coveted defensive back.

Fegans has teased LSU posts on social media, but it's a ways out for the Tigers in this one. A recruit who's been linked to programs like USC, Auburn and more, LSU will battle here for the Top 60 prospect.

He's visited campus already with the coaching staff looking to get him back down to Baton Rouge in the coming weeks once the NCAA Recruiting Dead Period wraps up.
