The Heisman Conversation: Where Does LSU QB Jayden Daniels Stand?

It's a two-man race for the most prestigious award in college football, but where does Daniels sit after Week 13?

Heisman Trophy voting ballots are out with LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels remaining a hot commodity in the race for the most prestigious award in college football.

The instructions are cut and dry: rank the top three players in America with ballots due by next Monday, Dec. 4 at 4pm CT.

It's a two-man race between Oregon quarterback Bo Nix and Daniels as crunch time begins in the Heisman conversation.

Where does LSU's signal-caller sit with voting ballots now out?

A look into the current odds:

DraftKings Sportsbook:

Daniels - (+130)

Nix - (-160)

Caesars Sportsbook:

Daniels - (+125)

Nix - (-160)

For now, Nix remains the favorite to take home the award, but with a conference championship between Washington on the horizon, there is still time for odds to shift.

When it comes to Daniels, his regular season is over, but he reflected on his time and Baton Rouge:

“It’s meant a lot to me.” Daniels said of the success this season. “To come here last year and trust the unknown, I didn’t know what I was going to get myself into. Now, playing my last game here, I really haven’t sat down and embraced what I went through, but I tried to embrace every little moment. Just the people I’ve met, the relationships I’ve built on and off the field, that’s what means the most to me.

“I set a standard for myself and I expect other guys to meet the standard and they’ve met it all year long. I’m just happy to go out there and play with these guys.”

LSU head coach Brian Kelly chimed in on the Heisman Trophy race and his thoughts on Daniels:

“This is against a top ten defense in the country – I think their defensive line is outstanding – and he had four touchdown passes,” Kelly said. “You score 42 points against this defense, it sure as heck can’t hurt you. Then running the way he did, I think he just strengthened his case for the Heisman.”
