The LSU Injury Report: Auburn Week, Update on Jayden Daniels
LSU head coach Brian Kelly addressed the media one final time before the Tigers take the field against Auburn on Saturday night. Kelly provided an update on LSU signal-caller Jayden Daniels while providing an injury report ahead of Week 7.
Here's what Kelly had to say:
The Jayden Daniels Update:
LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels took a blow to the ribs on Saturday against Missouri, but he didn't let the soreness and aggravation hold him out of practice this week.
Daniels made a statement. The Heisman candidate was a full participant in practice all week and didn't allow the bumps and bruises to hold him out.
“As a coach you want to be aware of how a quarterback is feeling and how you move into the week, but we have captain meetings on Monday and he said 'Coach, I don’t want you to change anything. I’m good to go.’ So we didn’t change anything up," Kelly said on Thursday. "He took all the reps and it sent a good message to everybody that there are going to be bumps and bruises and guys are going to be sore, but you have to get through it.
"He feels really good now, but he was pretty sore Tuesday and Wednesday. Today he looked good and was back to himself and he’s ready to compete at a high level.”
The Injury Report:
WR Chris Hilton Jr (ankle) - OUT
WR Aaron Anderson (hamstring) - Active
LB Omar Speights (hip flexor) - Active
OL Charles Turner (knee) - Active
The Duce Chestnut Update:
LSU cornerback Duce Chestnut has been away from the program for weeks now with Kelly meeting with the Syracuse on Friday to discuss options.
“I’m going to meet with Duce [Friday] and we’ll have a follow up on him next week.”
